Team GB closer to curling semi final
Team GB - Eve Muirhead, Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Claire Hamilton had to stay patient in a closely-fought game with hosts Russia that turned when they secured a four in the eighth end, their final winning margin 9-6.
They will now play Denmark later today (17 Feb) knowing a win would put Team GB into the semi-finals while they have guaranteed that even if defeated they will be involved in a tiebreaker for fourth place in the group standings.
"I'd make that shot nine out of ten times in practice but under the pressure you never know. It was a great team effort, I made the shot but the sweepers had to be alert and the skip has the responsibility of giving the right ice," said Sloan.
"We knew that was going to be a tough game but we stayed relaxed and in control, and while we lost a silly three in the ninth end, we'd have definitely taken being one up with one end to play. They're a good team and very experienced."
